2008-09 Calendar

In general, the Governor's School will follow the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College calendar for dual-enrollment classes. Governor's School students will be expected to be on campus on some additional days between semesters to make up for released time during their high school exams.

While every effort will be made to follow the home high schools schedules, it is inevitable that there will be days when students will be expected to attend the Governor's School when their home high schools are not in session, and days when they will be expected to attend their home high schools, but not the Governor's School.

Orientation
New students will be expected to attend an orientation session during the summer prior to the start of the school year.

Inclement Weather
We will follow the DSLCC inclement weather closings. The message on the main switchboard is updated early (almost always by 6:00 AM) for inclement weather delays and closings. Call 540-863-2800 or 1-888-733-7522 (toll free in service area).

If the college is open, but your home school division is not, you are encouraged to attend the Governor's School if it is safe for you to travel. If you cannot get to campus, you will be given an "excused" absence and expected to make up that day's class work.

If DSLCC is running 2 hours late, the Governor's School will observe the following schedule. Governor's School students are encouraged to attend if you can safely drive to campus and if this schedule does not interfere with your home high school's schedule:

Period 1 10:00 -- 10:35
Period 2 10:40 -- 11:15
Period 3 11:20 -- 11:55
Period 4 12:00 -- 12:35

Make-Up Days
We may, if necessary, schedule some optional make-up days on Saturdays. Mandatory make-up days may be scheduled during exam week.
