Where are they now? We've heard from a number of our graduates. Here's what your classmates have been doing recently. If you have a story or photo you'd like to add, email Susan Rollinson with the details and we'll add it here. Class of 2001Jamie J. (AHS) writes from UVa: "This summer I interned at the Sexual Assault Resource Agency here in Charlottesville. As an intern, I helped to prepare an annual report for one of the programs and my experience with Excel and other computer classes at JRGS was extremely helpful. I am majoring in Studies in Women and Gender and minoring in History, and preparing to start my job search for next year soon, which is very exciting but very scary at the same time." Jamie also interned for the Field Ecology Summer Regional Governor's School in 2002. Stacey N. (AHS) is still pursuing her dream of a career in public relations for a professional sports team. She is studying psychology with a concentration in communications at Roanoke College. Class of 2002
Jerel C. (AHS) writes: "Last summer (2004), I worked at the C&O Historical Society doing digital publication and photo production. It provided me with a chance to get some hands-on experience with fairly cutting-edge digital techniques, and I also learned a bit about the C&O Railroad on the side. ;) For anyone who is interested in learning a bit about what the internet can do for a business, I would definitely check out the C&OHS. There are a lot of great people working there, and they'd love to have some more help. It's one of those jobs where getting something done is actually an accomplishment, which will hopefully last a very long time in the historical archive. To phrase it very bluntly, the C&OHS is at least 6 months ahead of the rest of the area when it comes to information technology, and it really is incredible that something operating on a national scale can be based in Clifton Forge. If anyone with some technical skill is looking to exercise it around Clifton Forge, the C&O Historical Society is a great place to go." Jerel is double-majoring in electrical engineering and computer engineering with a minor in computer science at Virginia Tech. Whitney B. (JRHS) writes: "I am currently attending VT and am majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am going to graduate in May 2007 because I am going to hopefully study abroad in the fall. I have completed two successful internships with Cummins Diesel Engine Co.. in Indiana and am one of their Cummins Scholars. The first internship was in the Structural Analysis field and the second was in Mechanical Development. I have taken leadership roles in ASME [American Society for Mechanical Engineering] and am a member of SWE [Society of Women Engineers] and Engineers Without Borders. I have networked with recruiters from various companies and know many by name. I am also active on VT's SAE Mini Baja car team." Class of 2003Miranda A. (AHS) writes: "College has been very interesting. I'm in my second year at Roanoke College, in Salem, Virginia. I am an undeclared English major and Communications minor and hopefully a Creative Writing minor as well. I ran indoor and outdoor track last year (RC is Division 3); my event was the 800 meter run. This year, Iím going to write for the school newspaper (The Brackety-Ack)." Class of 2004
